I don’t know about you but I struggle with cellulite on the backs of my legs. Every workout that I’ve tried to target the back of my legs only does so much. Then one day I was watching Youtube videos and I came across the benefits of dry brushing for reducing cellulite on your body. From that moment I was hooked.
I bought my first dry brush and I’ve been doing it religiously for years now. Have I noticed a difference? Most definitely.
How I Reduce Cellulite With Dry Brushing
What is Dry Brushing?
Dry brushing is basically a juice cleanse for the body. But first, maybe I should explain what exactly it means to dry brush and what it does for you.
Dry brushing exfoliates your skin naturally and stimulates the Lymphatic System and increases circulation. It actually got its roots in ancient times as it was great for cleansing and beautifying the skin back in that time.
What I love about dry brushing is that it’s a super budget-friendly way to feel like you are at the spa! You can grab a brush for under $20.
How Do I Use the Dry Brush?
In my experience, I dry brush before I get in the shower. I find that sometimes if I dry brush in the shower the bristles will get too soft so beware of that.
All you have to do is use circular motions toward your heart in the place you are wanting to reduce cellulite. That’s literally it!
Important to note: You can dry brush too hard. I recommend brushing every other day to maybe 2-3 times a week. It takes your skin some time to get used to it. Don’t brush too rigorously!
What Are the Benefits of Dry Brushing?
Exfoliation
One of the main benefits is to increase circulation in your body. Along with that, it’s a great exfoliation technique before date night!
Stimulates the Lymphatic System
Another reason why dry brushing is great is that it stimulates the Lymphatic System in your body. The Lymphatic System essentially helps your body fight off infection. Fluids flow through the system and is filtered through the lymph nodes.
Reduces the Appearance of Cellulite
The reason you came to this blog post is probably that you want to learn how something as simple as a dry brush can help reduce cellulite on your body. Just like I said above, one of the main benefits that everyone raves about is that dry brushing increases circulation in your body.
I like brushing the backs of my legs every other day for 30 seconds in circular motions. Please keep in mind that this is certainly not for everyone. Don’t overdo it because that can irritate your skin and leave it dry and flaky.
Additionally, this isn’t some sort of miracle. This only assists you if you are putting in the work to eat healthily and exercise!
Kimberlie says
Dry brushing was an essential part of my postpartum recovery for my belly area. I had never heard of it before, but found out through research it could help with discoloration and new skin growth. I love that you remind people it’s not a miracle, just an additional tool that can be beneficial.
